Strong representation of the Lodz region

The official delegation of the Lodz region, chaired by Marshal Joanna Skrzydlewska, also included the rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik. His presence emphasized the important role of cooperation between the scientific community, local government, and business in building the international image of the region. The Rector’s presence was also a recognition of the university’s contribution to the development of innovative technologies, high-quality engineering education, and effective knowledge transfer to the economy.

The delegation aimed not only to symbolically represent the Lodz region at Expo but also to initiate real contacts that may result in future research, educational, and investment cooperation with partners from Japan.

Business seminar: cooperation beyond borders

One of the key accompanying events was a business seminar organized by the Lodz Special Economic Zone. The meeting gathered representatives of administration, industry, academia, and institutions supporting innovation. Lodz University of Technology not only participated but actively helped create an atmosphere open to international cooperation.

Speeches by university and regional representatives showcased the export, infrastructure, and intellectual potential of the Lodz region. They also demonstrated the synergy between the academic environment and the economic sector – the foundation for the region’s innovative development.

Education and popularization of science: “The Amazing World of Fibers”

The educational and popular science part, actively involving scientists from Lodz University of Technology, attracted particular interest from Expo visitors. One of the standout program points was the workshop titled “The Amazing World of Fibers,” led by Dr. hab. Eng. Michał Puchalski, university professor from the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design. Organizational support was provided by Dominik Leżański.

The interactive sessions were designed for exhibition participants to introduce the structure, properties, and diversity of textiles from both scientific and practical perspectives. Workshop participants, mostly Japanese citizens, also received hats made from materials fully produced by companies from the Lodz region. The workshops were prepared with great attention to detail – both substantive and visual – exemplifying the university’s professionalism and commitment to promoting science.

International strategy and long-term goals
Lodz University of Technology’s participation in Expo 2025 is not only about promoting its scientific and educational achievements. It also consciously supports the mission of the Lodz region in pursuing development through internationalization. Meetings, presentations, and workshops created a platform for building lasting relationships with Japanese partners and representatives from other countries.

In the longer term, the presence at Expo fits into the university’s development strategy, which consistently focuses on international cooperation, research commercialization, and promoting Polish science worldwide.
