Participants represented technical universities, research institutes from Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America, as well as the world’s largest companies in the transformer and energy sectors, including Hitachi Energy (Poland, Sweden, Germany), SGB-SMIT, Mitsubishi, Siemens Energy, Shell, Midel & Mivolt, Nynas, and A&A Fratelli Parodi. The event was also attended by members of IEC standardization committees, CIGRÉ working groups, and the IEEE Technical Committee on Dielectric Liquids – individuals shaping the direction of this field’s development worldwide.
The host of the conference was Lodz University of Technology, with Prof. Paweł Rózga from the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering at TUL serving as chair of both the Scientific and Organizing Committees. He was supported by Filip Stuchała, PhD as vice-chair. The conference took place from May 18–22, 2025, at the Ambasador Premium Hotel in Lodz.
The IEEE ICDL is an international scientific forum dedicated to dielectric liquids, organized cyclically since 1958 by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society. The conference’s thematic scope includes research on the physical, chemical, and dielectric properties of insulating liquids, their compatibility with transformer construction materials, testing, diagnostics, and directions for further development. This year’s edition featured over 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers, which will be published in the IEEE Xplore database and subsequently indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
The conference was opened by Prof. Paweł Rózga, and the inaugural ceremony was graced by the speech of Rector Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, who warmly welcomed the participants and wished them fruitful deliberations.
The event received very high ratings from participants, who repeatedly emphasized its high substantive level and perfect organization during the gala dinner. The location and the excellent atmosphere throughout the conference were also highlighted, making the event a promotion for Poland, Lodz, and the professionalism of Lodz University of Technology.
In addition to the scientific program, participants had the opportunity to take part in accompanying events – including a tour of the EC1 Science and Technology Center combined with dinner, a string quartet concert at the Poznański Palace, and a banquet at Monopolis.
The IEEE ICDL conference was held under the patronage of Lodz University of Technology. The main partners ("Gold Partner") were Hitachi and Shell, with additional support from Megger, Ecol Sp. z o.o., Ekofluid, and Emonter Group.
The next, 24th edition is scheduled for May 2027 and will be hosted by the Technical University of Crete in Greece.
