„Życie Uczelni” information bulletin of the TUL

The main task in the nationwide competition held under the theme 'Without forests, we're all babes in the woods!' was to design an outdoor art installation (a.k.a. O-O-H, or out of home advertising) related to sustainable forestry. An honorable mention in the competition was awarded to Adam Szebesczyk, a student of architecture at Lodz University of Technology. The competition was part of the WWF Poland's campaign for sustainable forest management.

President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has conferred the academic title of professor on two scientists from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences the title of professor. Dr. hab. inż. Tomasz Olejnik received the title of professor of Engineering and Technology in the discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining and Energy, whereas dr. hab. inż. Robert Klewicki received the title of professor of Agricultural Sciences in the discipline of Food and Nutrition Technology.

President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda conferred on dr hab. inż. Piotr Dziugan the academic title of professor of Engineering and Technology. The order is dated August 4.

The researcher from the Department of Environmental Biotechnology is among the finest at Lodz University of Technology in the discipline of Chemical Engineering, in which he received the title of professor.

President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda conferred the academic title of Professor of the Arts on dr hab. inż. Piotr Mastalerz from the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design at TUL, in the discipline of Fine Arts and Art Conservation.

The Bekker Program is one of the flagship programs of the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA). It provides opportunities of prestigious research internship in reputable international institutes to pursue projects alongside distinguished foreign scientists.

Lodz University of Technology's Raptors team proved once again that they are more than capable of building Martian rovers and tackling tasks that might befall colonists of extraterrestrial planets. The team returned from the International Rover Challenge in Canada, which was in every way highly demanding, with the third prize.

Dr hab. inż. Marta Gmurek, TUL professor, Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering has been accepted to the Young Academy of Europe (YAE). She is the first individual from Łódź to have joined this primary league of young researchers.

The International Cooperation Centre of TUL, thanks to the NAWA - National Agency for Academic Exchange, under the 'Strategic Partnerships' programme, is implementing a new stage of the project 'ActiveD2-Active Double Degree - Implementation of a joint degree model based on active teaching and learning methods'. One of its tasks is participation in study visits, during which students from our university carry out process and technology audits in France, while students from the partner university in&ma (École Supérieure de la Performance) visit companies in Poland. Two of the four trips planned as part of the project have already taken place.

The results of the call for proposals submitted under ACTION 2 Cooperation partnerships in higher education have been announced. The project submitted by TUL International Cooperation Centre #edu4sdgs - Building a Comprehensive Educational Ecosystem for Sustainable Development Goals was among the Top10 applications that received funding. It refers to two issues - emotional intelligence and the Sustainable Development Goals as defined in Agenda 2030.

Aleksander Skóra, a student of the Lodz University of Technology Secondary School, won a silver medal at the 34th International Biological Olympiad, held in the United Arab Emirates. During the closing ceremony, he stepped onto the podium, holding the Polish flag, feeling quite pleased with the tremendous success he had achieved. He is, after all, among the best young biologists in the world.
