Dr inż. Aleksandra Twarda-Cłapa, assistant professor at the Institute of Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology in the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, completed an international internship at the German Helmholtz Zentrum München from April to June 2023. Read below the researcher's report on the project she carried out there.
The opening of the 2023/24 academic year took on a very special quality. It was held at the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic, where the universities associated in the Łódź Academic Partnership (ŁPA) convened. The ceremony was attended by the leadership and senators, employees, students, doctoral candidates, and well-wishers to the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź, the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Lodz University of Technology, Lodz Film School, the University of Lodz, and the Medical University of Lodz.
Łódzkie Forum Future Mobility organized by Lodz University of Technology provided a platform to discuss the latest trends in mobility, both terrain and air mobility, that is safe for people and environmentally friendly. As emphasized by the French Embassy representative attending the meeting, mobility is one of the key challenges in the world today, and one that requires cooperation and integration of science and industry.

Public universities of Łódź are ramping up their cooperation. They have made their first joint appearance under the common catchphrase ‘Study in Łódź’ during Salony Maturzystów, the largest higher education fairs in Poland, organized by the Perspektywy Foundation.

The celebration, held just before the commencement of the new academic year, was held in conjunction with the gala of the XXIII Polish Conference on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.

A new state-of-the-art steel structure design lecture hall was opened at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering of Lodz University of Technology. The facility is a result of the cooperation between the Department of Structural Mechanics and Rex-Bud Budownictwo, a company specializing in general contracting of industrial, warehousing, and commercial investments.

Lodz University of Technology is among the founders of INDORO, the newly established Związek Pracodawców Firm Innowacyjnych, Doradczych i Rozwojowych (Association of Employers of Innovative, Consulting and Development Companies). Vice Rector for Education dr hab. inż. Andrzej Romanowski, TUL professor, was appointed member of the organization's Council.

The general theme of this year's Science Fair (Piknik naukowy) was 'Groundbreaking Science' (Rewolucje naukowe). Taking part again and representing Lodz University of Technology after a hiatus caused by the pandemic was the Center of Mathematics and Physics.

The Antiplagiarism System by Plagiat.pl has a number of features that allow you to find incorrect or unmarked borrowings from another work in an easy and straightforward way. Authors of articles or longer pieces of writing who submit their work to be analyzed will get an antiplagiarism report in three formats, together with a brief interpretation of the results. The service is available only to the staff of Lodz University of Technology.

140 high school students took part in the Maths Physics and Chemistry Week The annual event opened on Monday, September 11, at 2:15 pm at the Professor Tadeusz Paryjczak auditorium in the Alchemium Building.
The National Plein Air Workshops for Architecture Students took place in Chełmno on the Vistula river (July 10-20). They have been held by the Chełmno City Hall since 2004, and are organized as a competition, with the best works honored with prizes. Students from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, TUL, have been taking part in the Chełmno plein air workshops since their very beginnings, and this year they scooped half of the prize pool.

The main task in the nationwide competition held under the theme 'Without forests, we're all babes in the woods!' was to design an outdoor art installation (a.k.a. O-O-H, or out of home advertising) related to sustainable forestry. An honorable mention in the competition was awarded to Adam Szebesczyk, a student of architecture at Lodz University of Technology. The competition was part of the WWF Poland's campaign for sustainable forest management.
