The MINIATURE competition, announced for the 4th time by the National Science Centre, has selected 178 winners. Eight scientists from Lodz University of Technology will receive grants. This is a success, because according to the published ranking list, only 31 projects from technical universities will receive funding. Therefore, we would all the more like to congratulate our scientists on the financial support for the preparation of a research project.

LIDER is a programme addressed to young scientists. Its objective is to increase the competence of young scientists in independent planning of research work and managing their own research team during implementation of research projects, the results of which may have practical applications and implementation potential. The amount of allocation in the competition is PLN 80 million, of which 10% is a reserve for appeals. The call for grant applications takes place between 18 January and 18 March 2021. The National Centre for Research and Development has announced a competition under the Strategic Research and Development Programme "Advanced information, telecommunication and mechatronic technologies". - INFOSTRATEG. Applications for funding can be submitted from 4 January to 26 February 2021 (by 4:00 p.m.).

The just published QS Emerging Europe&Central Asia University Rankings classified 400 universities. Lodz University of Technology was classified on 91st position, up by 10 places in comparison to last year. This is the biggest edition of the ranking so far.

Lodz University of Technology, as a leader, with partners from Turkey and Portugal is launching a project, for which the European Commission has awarded a grant of more than € 130 000.

An international research team consisting of professor Tomasz Kubiak and his doctoral student Paweł Czapski from the Department of Strength of Materials at Lodz University of Technology has been recommended for funding of research important for stability of structures in which thin-walled composite columns are used. This modern technology is used, for example, in the aerospace industry (aircraft, helicopters), the automotive industry and also in relation to wind turbines.

By adopting the best and proven practices, Lodz University of Technology is implementing the project "Building Excellence at Lodz University of Technology". The Rector awarded grants for the best good practices showing examples of actions that can positively influence the development of the university in the area of science, education and organisation of academic life.
