The results of two rankings, Times Higher Education Impact 2025 and QS World University Rankings 2026, have been published. - In THE Impact, Lodz University of Technology managed to maintain its position from last year in the 601-800 range, despite more than 370 new universities joining the ranking in the latest edition. Similarly, in the second ranking, we retained last year’s position, although with such a dynamic increase in the number of participating universities - 2526 in total - maintaining last year’s position was not easy - commented the rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik.

As in the previous year, 25 Polish universities were classified in the THE Impact ranking. Lodz University of Technology was among the nine best universities in the country. It ranked highest in Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth (range 201-300), sharing second place nationally with the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences. The university was also classified in Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The best results were achieved by Gdansk University of Technology and the University of Gdansk, which were placed in the 301-400 range.

The ranking takes into account universities' contributions to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are the foundation of the UN's 2030 Agenda for sustainable global development. Through achievements in specific goals, participating universities demonstrate their commitment to addressing the world's most urgent problems, such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and cooperation for sustainable development.

In the latest edition of THE Impact, 2,526 universities from 130 countries participated, with 2,318 ultimately classified. For the fourth consecutive time, Western Sydney University from Australia ranked first globally.

 

QS World University Rankings 2026

In the QS World University Rankings 2026, 1,501 universities from over 100 countries were classified. The ranking included 20 Polish universities. The national podium was occupied by the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, and Warsaw University of Technology. Lodz University of Technology was classified in the 1001-1200 range.

Lodz University of Technology achieved its highest score in the Faculty Student Ratio indicator (number of students per academic staff member), ranking 306th worldwide, an improvement of 29 positions. Nationally, the university performed best in the Citations per Faculty indicator (number of citations of scientific publications affiliated with the university divided by the number of academic staff), ranking 2nd in Poland. This indicator measures the visibility and significance of the university's research worldwide.

The ranking methodology considers indicators grouped into five categories: quality of research, graduate employability, quality of teaching, internationalization, and the university's actions for sustainable development.

The global leaders in the QS World University Rankings are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Imperial College London, and Stanford University.
