Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, a scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in the US (since 1985) and Lodz University of Technology (since 2014), who for many years now has been referred to as a possible Nobel Prize nominee in the field of Chemistry, was awarded the honorary degree of doctor honoris causa by Rzeszów University of Technology.

Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, a world-renowned chemist specializing in polymer chemistry, an employee and former student of Lodz University of Technology, received (on 9.01) an honorary doctorate from Rzeszów University of Technology. For several years, he has been mentioned as a potential laureate of the Nobel Prize in the field of chemistry.
The latest results of the international University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2023-2024, developed by the Informatics Institute at Middle East Technical University in Turkey, have been published. Lodz University of Technology advanced by 5 places, taking the 13th position in Poland.

At the opening of a new year, we feel the urge to think about what lies ahead. However, any future is inevitably rooted in the times past. Lodz University of Technology’s recent history has been highlighted with many successful developments that have resulted from sustained efforts beyond the last 12 months.
At the end of December, during a gala organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, dr inż. Dorota Piotrowska, TUL Prof., director of the TUL International Cooperation Centre, received a special award: "Innovation Expert of Erasmus+ InnHub Centres".
The National Centre for Research and Development will co-finance a project from Lodz University of Technology concerning the education of specialists for the needs of key sectors of the economy. The university will receive 8 million PLN for this purpose from the European Funds for Social Development (FERS) program, which replaced the Knowledge Education Development (POWER) program.
The compromise between functionality and concern for the environment is an important aspect of scientific research. This also applies to mass-produced packaging, the production, use, and disposal of which are quite a challenge. Konrad Stefaniak, a student of Chemical Technology, participant of the E2TOP programme, is trying to take it on.
