The Faculty of Chemistry has yet again confirmed its leading position in the European research and higher education. In addition to the KAUT-EUR-ACE® Label and HCERES (Haut Conseil de l'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur) accreditations that it already holds, it has now been awarded further ones.

For many TUL students, tutoring turned out to be a valuable, growth-promoting and rewarding experience. Their participation in the program confirmed to them that they could do more, and that what they did was first and foremost for themselves and allowed them to discover their own potential, to test the boundaries of what their true capability, which often turned out to be much greater than they had expected when they first started in the project.

Dr inż. Katarzyna Grzelak-Błaszczyk, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, has been awarded a 1.1 million złoty grant from the NCN Opus 23 funding scheme for her research project 'The effect of the combined osmoconcentration and lactic fermentation process on the profile of bioactive components of new varieties of onion in an in-vivo model'. The research will be conducted at the Institute of Food Technology and Analysis and the Institute of Fermentation Technology and Microbiology in collaboration with the scientists from the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn. Below, the author of the grant-winning project explains what lies behind its long title.

The first edition of the E2TOP program came to a close in mid-February. A group of first-year students selected by the Program Board received a research grant and academic support from tutors. Further inspiration came through tutoring sessions. The Chair of the Program Council, dr hab. inż. Łukasz Szymański, TUL professor, summed the program up:

‘The students who joined the E2TOP program regarded it primarily as an opportunity for rapid development. They also appreciated that it allowed them to learn about different research techniques and develop practical skills during their the laboratory training’.

The week of March 10 – to March 16 is going to be special at Lodz University of Technology and it is going to be all about research. Scientists, doctoral candidates and students will have the opportunity to visit our state-of-the-art laboratories, network, learn about what they are currently working on and find out how the most advanced technologies are developed.
